The History of the American Consultants League
The American Consultants League Mission Statement The American Consultants League is the first and only professional association designed to help both novice and experienced independent consultants earn $250,00 a year or more in their consulting practices — by providing practical, real-world information and advice on how to market, sell and satisfactorily (and profitably) render consulting services to the clients they want to do business with.
The History of the American Consultants League In 1981, The Consultants Institute was formed for the purpose of education and accreditation for consultants. The Consultants Institute certified proficiency in the consulting profession. Its home-study course was certified by the Ohio State Board of Higher Education to educate consultants on consulting practices and to award the Certified Professional Consultant (CPC) certificate. The TCI remains the only multi-disciplinary learning institute ever certified by a Board of Higher Education to award this CPC certificate. With The Consultants Institute came a further need for continuing education whereby successful graduates of TCI could remain current in the ever-changing world of consulting and economic trends and the up-to-date information needed to keep consultants on the cutting edge of the profession. The American Consultants League (ACL) was formed in 1983 to meet that growing need, and continues today to be the oldest and best provider of information to consulting professionals. Hubert Bermont, known as "The Consultants' Consultant", was the founder of both organizations and maintained them until Agora Inc. acquired the Institute and the League in 2002. At that time, the two branches were merged and have become exclusively the American Consultants League. The League has updated and lightly revised this course material to better reflect today's business practices, principles, and technology. Through the expertise of Robert W. Bly and our Board of Advisors, the resulting text continues to be the benchmark of consulting how-to course books. The prestigious Certified Professional Consultant (CPC) credential is awarded upon successful completion. Becoming an ACL member, both for new consultants, as well as seasoned pros looking to take their income and practice to the next level, gives you a huge edge over your competition. You gain instant credibility by being part of a prestigious, worldwide consulting association – and, you get full training and ongoing support all year long to help you win more clients and maximize your consulting revenues.
